Description

Compact, stout and impossible to mistake for anything else. A 4 inch 440C stainless blade with a hammered finish meets a hand engraved bolster and a vivid turquoise handle veined in black. The whole knife rides in a thick black buffalo leather sheath set with a matching turquoise inlay. Built to work around camp and on the hunt, and finished well enough to earn a place in any collection.

What Makes This Turquoise Bushcraft Knife Stand Out?

Three details set it apart. The bolster carries hand cut scrollwork, so no two knives look exactly alike. The handle shows the sky blue colour and dark spiderweb matrix that make turquoise one of the most recognisable materials in Western and Southwestern design. And the blade wears a hammered finish along the spine that adds texture, character and a little extra grip for your thumb.

Turquoise is a favourite across our handmade cowboy knives, and fans of the look can also see it paired with rasp steel on our Buckaroo snake sheath knife.

Why Is 440C Stainless Steel Good for an Outdoor Knife?

440C is a high carbon martensitic stainless steel with the highest carbon content in the 440 series. Around 16 to 18% chromium gives it genuine stainless performance, so it shrugs off moisture, blood and food acids far better than carbon steels. Hardened to 58 to 60 HRC, it holds a keen edge through a day of camp work and sharpens easily on a standard whetstone when it needs a touch up.

For a knife that will get wet, get dirty and still be expected to cut, 440C is a dependable, low maintenance choice. The 6mm spine adds real strength to a compact 4 inch blade, so the tip stands up to twisting cuts and light prying without flexing.

What Is a Turquoise Knife Handle Made Of?

The handle is made from reconstituted turquoise: genuine turquoise stone crushed and bonded with resin, then cut into scales. The process keeps the natural colour and matrix of the stone while making it far more stable and moisture resistant than raw turquoise, which is too soft and porous for a working handle. Decorative pins and a lanyard hole complete the grip.

Stone composites are tough in the hand but can chip under a hard knock, so treat the handle the way you would a quality watch face: carry it in the sheath, and avoid dropping it on rock. To compare turquoise with Micarta, wood and other grips, read our knife handle materials guide.

What Can You Use a 4 Inch Bushcraft Knife For?

  • Bushcraft: carve feather sticks, notch stakes and prepare tinder. A short blade gives you precise control close to the work. Browse more in our bushcraft knives collection.
  • Hunting: the wide belly and fine point handle skinning, caping and small game cleaning. Compare it with our skinning knives.
  • Camping: food prep, cordage and everyday chores around the fire.
  • Gifting and collecting: engraving, turquoise and exotic leather make it a standout gift for hunters, ranchers and collectors.

What Kind of Sheath Comes With the Knife?

The knife ships in a thick black buffalo leather sheath with a turquoise exotic-pattern leather inlay that echoes the handle. Buffalo hide is thicker and denser than standard cowhide, so the sheath holds its shape and protects the edge for years. A snap belt loop lets you take the sheath on and off without removing your belt.

How Do You Care for a 440C Knife With a Stone Handle?

440C is stainless, not rust-proof. Wipe the blade clean and dry after use and add a light coat of oil before storage. Keep the handle away from harsh solvents and never put the knife in a dishwasher. Store it out of the sheath for long periods, since leather holds moisture against steel. Our knife care guide covers oiling and sharpening in detail.

Is a Fixed Blade Bushcraft Knife Legal in Canada?

Fixed blade knives are legal to own across Canada and most of the United States and are widely carried for hunting, camping and outdoor work. Carry rules vary by province, state and city, so check local regulations before you travel. Our guide to knife laws in Canada covers the basics.
