Where the Rasp Meets the Ridge
Rasp steel comes from old farrier's files, high-carbon steel with a hard, proven backbone. Forged and heat-treated to 59, 61 RC, it takes a keen edge and keeps the raised rasp pattern that tells you exactly where the steel came from. The 4" blade is built around a gut hook: a curved, sharpened notch that opens hide in one clean pull without nicking what's underneath.
The handle is where the character lives. Natural antler horn gives you a cream-and-bone grain no mold can copy, and the turquoise spacer sets a band of desert blue right where your hand meets the steel. Antler ridge, turquoise line, rasp-teeth blade, that's the Turquoise Ridge.
Why Rasp Steel?
- ✓ High-carbon, holds an edge longer than stainless
- ✓ Visible file teeth, proof of its origin
- ✓ 59, 61 RC, hard enough to work, tough enough to last
- ✓ Every blade one of a kind, no two rasps wear the same

Care Guide, Keeping Rasp Steel & Antler Right
High-carbon steel rewards a little attention with a lifetime of service.
- 1Wipe the blade dry after every use. Rasp steel is high-carbon, not stainless, moisture left on the steel is the main cause of spotting.
- 2Keep a light coat of oil on it. A thin film of mineral or food-safe blade oil protects the steel and settles into the rasp teeth between uses.
- 3Clean by hand, never the dishwasher. Heat and detergent are hard on carbon steel and can dry out the antler.
- 4Mind the gut hook. Rinse and dry inside the hook after field dressing; debris hides in the curve and can rust or dull it.
- 5Care for the antler. A rare rub of oil or beeswax keeps natural antler from drying and checking over the years.
- 6A little patina is normal. Carbon steel darkens with use, it's cosmetic and even protective. Heavy spotting wipes back with oil and a non-scratch pad.
- 7Store dry, out of the sheath long-term. Leather holds moisture; for long storage keep the knife out of the sheath in a dry place.
