This is the Stag Steel BC-403, a 10" fixed blade forged from D2 tool steel in the Black Shark style, with a raw scale finish left on the flats. Fitted to a marbled resin handle that ends in a full finger ring at the pommel, it is built for the ranch hand who needs a knife that holds an edge from sunup to sundown. At 10" overall with a 5" blade, it carries the presence of a real fixed blade, the kind you reach for at branding, in the field, or any time the work calls for a blade that will not quit.
D2: The Steel That Earned Its Reputation
D2 is a high-carbon, high-chromium tool steel prized by blade smiths and working ranchers for one reason: it holds a wicked edge and keeps it through hard, repeated use. It is semi-stainless, so it resists rust far better than plain carbon steel while still taking a razor-sharp edge. On the ranch, that means you sharpen it once and it stays sharp through rope, twine, hide, feed sacks, and whatever else the day throws at it. The forged scale finish keeps that raw, worked-metal character instead of a polished mirror, because this knife is meant to be used, not admired behind glass.

D2 Tool Steel Blade
