Description
Lean, quick and built for the hunt. The Bobcat pairs a 6 inch Damascus drop point blade with a dark steel finger guard and a rosewood handle shaped to fill the palm. At 11 inches overall and 4mm thick, it is light enough to carry all day and long enough to handle everything from field dressing to quartering.
What Makes the Bobcat a Good Hunting Knife?
Its shape does the work. The drop point lowers the tip toward the centre of the blade, giving you control for opening cuts without nicking what lies underneath. A long, gentle belly sweeps under hide for skinning, and the 4mm stock keeps the blade slim enough to slice cleanly rather than wedge.
Behind the blade, a curved steel finger guard keeps your hand where it belongs during push cuts, and the handle swells into the palm and hooks at the butt so the knife stays locked in place even with gloves or wet hands. Explore more field-ready blades in our handmade hunting knives.
What Is Damascus Steel and Why Use It for a Hunting Knife?
Modern Damascus is pattern welded steel: layers of two steels forge welded together, folded and shaped by hand, then acid etched to reveal the flowing pattern you see on the Bobcat. The pattern runs through the steel, so it stays visible through years of use and sharpening.
The high carbon layers take a keen edge and sharpen easily on a whetstone, which matters in the field. For how it compares with tool steels, read our Damascus vs D2 steel guide, or see more patterns in our Damascus hunting knives collection.
Why Choose a Rosewood Knife Handle?
Rosewood is a dense, naturally oily hardwood that resists moisture better than most woods and deepens in colour with handling. On the Bobcat it is shaped with a palm swell and a pommel hook, finished with a mosaic pin and a brass-lined lanyard hole. The grain varies from knife to knife, so every Bobcat is a little different.
Compare rosewood with Micarta, horn and bone in our knife handle materials guide.

How Do You Care for a Damascus Hunting Knife?
Damascus contains high carbon steel, so it can rust if neglected, especially after contact with blood. Rinse and wipe the blade dry right after field use, then add a light coat of food-safe mineral oil. Rub a little oil into the rosewood a few times a year, and store the knife out of the sheath long term so leather does not hold moisture against the steel. Our Damascus knife care guide walks through every step.
Can You Carry a Hunting Knife in Canada?
Fixed blade hunting knives are legal to own across Canada and most of the United States and are commonly carried for hunting, fishing and camping. Carry rules vary by province, state and city, so check local regulations before you travel. Our guide to knife laws in Canada covers the basics.
